So many things have happened between the November 29th and December 2nd. Here is a brief synopsis.
Nov 29th - Disappointment
Our flight with United Airlines was re-booked because of (high-wind) delays in Chicago O'Hare. So we had to stay one more day in Omaha and flew out on Nov 30th on Delta.
Nov 30th - In The Air
We flew from Omaha (Delta) to Detroit (Delta) to Amsterdam (KLM) to Accra. Pictures and vlogs will be posted. Overall, the trip went smoothly. We were not stopped at any of the ports of entry and I must say the Dutch male is quite easy on the eyes. :p
Dec 1st - Touchdown
We landed in Accra at 9:15pm. It was a balmy 89F and was fantastic. We were bushed with my brother suffering most from the time zone skips. It has been decided that we'll be staying with my Aunt and her family for the majority of our stay or until our own accommodations are complete. Either way I'm happy with the decision because my aunt's maid is an excellent cook! (Picture to follow). By the time we shuffled like zombies into the house we crashed and said our goodnights.
Dec 2nd - Day 1
Today is a holiday so we decided to take advantage of the quiet, surreal, un-congested streets and go run errands. First we went to the Labadi Beach Hotel to change dollars into cedis (Ghanian currency). $1 = 1.67 cedis. Next we grabbed breakfast in the tiny, blink and you missed it, ally diner. Mmmm, mmm, good! (I have pics). Then we went to the Accra Mall (built by South Africans). Very westernized. Had any and everything you can find in any western country. By that time we were a bit fatigued and decided to come home.
Ghana Currency - $1 GHC, $5 GHC, $10GHC |
